The fierce urgency of yada yada yada

Obama's speech to Congress happened last night. As a rule, I don't watch speeches. I read them later. It eliminates the possibility of being swayed by the delivery.

Reading the speech was a waste of time. It was so very formulaic.

1. We're great.
2. A bunch of people are going to get goodies from the government (the promise of tax cuts as is promised a lot)
3. We're going to do a bunch of things.
4. It's going to cost a metric assload of money. They'll tell you it's an Imperial Assload, but it's a lot closer to a metric assload.
5. We're great.

I'm not going to pick nits about this speech as has been happening on the news all day. He said we invented the car. We didn't. Whatever.

I'm not going to tell you about how most of this stuff isn't going to happen as most stuff in these kind of speeches don't happen. It doesn't matter which president says it. Most of it doesn't happen. If you haven't figured that out yet, then something needs to be done about you before you breed.

Don't tell me about more fuel-efficient cars, or electric cars, or cars that run on electricity, or clean coal, or imagination, or whatever. It's nine years past the year 2000. We're supposed to have flying cars. I WAS PROMISED FLYING CARS.
